Guide: Understanding your DiSC profile
Have you taken or are you and your team considering taking a DiSC profile test but are unsure what it actually means?
Below you can read some of the most common questions we work with when using this world-leading personality and behavioral profiling tool.
WHY DISC?
Many Danish companies and educational programs use DiSC profiling as a tool to create a better work environment, team collaboration and social well-being.
We often use it with customers who want to become stronger and more effective in their communication processes and team collaboration. With DiSC profiles, both employees and management can understand how each team member prefers to act, communicate and work. In addition, the profile provides insight into what motivates and what can cause stress. DiSC as a tool provides a common and non-judgmental language to discuss both problems and solutions – and generally strengthens the sense of what a healthy company culture is and how we can get there.
Other of our corporate customers use DiSC when hiring new colleagues. Here, the new colleagues receive a DiSC profile in the onboarding process. The profile is then actively used in training and education and thus accelerates learning. For example, the new employee can learn that the boss has an “i” profile, i.e. tends to assess relationships according to their openness, social skills and demonstrated enthusiasm. And the manager can learn that the new employee is a “C” profile and is thus more focused on accuracy and objective processes. Together, they will see that each of these traits is necessary to bring flexibility, wholeness and depth to the organization. Everyone will gain insight into how they might better align their preferred behavioral preferences when working directly with each other.
HOW DO I GET A DiSC PROFILE?
The test is taken via an online link that your DiSC accredited provider will give you and will usually take max 15 minutes to complete. There are no right or wrong answers. Most people’s profiles tend to remain fairly consistent over time.
The scoring and reporting is done electronically or in a few simple steps for an entire paper version.

WHAT DO THE LETTERS MEAN IN DiSC?
The DISC method looks at four basic styles to describe how people approach their work and relationships. Each style is represented by the four letters. A profile report is of course much deeper and more detailed than this, but a quick overview of each style could be described as:
Dominance/green (D) – competitive, results-focused, goal-oriented
Influence/red (i) – impulsive, talkative, innovative
Stability/blue (S) – reliable, calm, caring, stability-seeking,
Competence-seeking/yellow (C) – fact-oriented, systematic, knowledge-seeking
