There are many good reasons why a company should organize a team building event. One of them is that breaking the daily work routines with a company trip or employee day where team building is on the program is a valuable “investment” in itself.
Which team building event provides the most value?
When we talk to our customers, we divide their needs into 4 main groups.
We do this to determine which team building or team development concept is best suited for the purpose:
1. the desire to increase employee engagement and unity by restoring and/or strengthening the sense of belonging between employees and engaging them in the company identity and brand. Ultimately, it’s all about strengthening community, unity and human connections. Social and bonding team building programs are one of the popular and effective ways to do this.
2. The desire to improve group dynamics by building employees “collaboration skills and communication understanding through games, exercises and activities. By building on daily routines and behavioral patterns and providing learning in both a playful and educational setting, participants can gain new insights into their own and others” behavior and differences. This can help break down the usual hierarchy and instead build new, stronger relationships between colleagues who don’t normally interact with each other. Working on team development through team building and team development workshops builds trust, knowledge about behavior and understanding of e.g. leadership and communication issues.
3. The desire to celebrate or say thank you. Celebrations and fun team building activities promote empathy and social cohesion. Team building followed by a company party is a great way to build unity and morale within the group. As well as showing appreciation and gratitude to employees, the interactions that take place at these festive occasions will often show up in both wellbeing metrics and loyalty afterwards. Besides, laughing together is probably the best glue for building and strengthening human relationships.
4. The desire to highlight a theme or focus area. Team building can also help to articulate specific goals, usually related to HR or management strategy.
